Titel: Estimating Complex System Integration Projects
Abstract: Complex system integration (CSI) typically involves the delivery of a large scope program of work involving many related projects: Architecture services, custom application development, commercial software customization, integration, testing, data migration, hosting… There is a spectrum of requirements through the whole lifecycle. Multiple development and delivery methods need to be homogenized in a framework. The functional estimates only cover a part of the scope. CSI requires the use of several different standardized estimating approaches to develop the overall estimate. Duration based roles can amount to as much as 30% - 40% of the total estimate. As one of the kind projects the use of historical data for benchmarking requires tailoring of parameters and tractability of complexity as well as handling project risks. The presentation outlines the key success factors and methodology for estimating complex system integration projects.
